Where New Characters Inspire New Stories

LOCOMO® Friends is a nature exploration toy for kids ages 3 and up, introducing Bill, Penny, Helen, Wesley, and Shannon as five new characters in the world of LOCOMO®. Each figure has its own shape and openings for adding natural details, giving children fresh starting points for open-ended nature play.

Children can insert, turn, remove, and replace leaves, flowers, twigs, and other suitable natural materials in different openings. Each change allows the same figure to take on a new appearance, personality, and place in a story.

The Search Is Part of the Play

Natural materials are not included because finding them is central to the LOCOMO® experience.

A walk outdoors takes on a new purpose. Children may set out looking for something that suits an idea they already have, or they may notice an interesting shape, color, curve, texture, or scent and decide later how to use it.

The search is not simply preparation for play. Looking closely, comparing possibilities, and choosing what to collect are already part of the experience.

Five New Starting Points

Bill, Penny, Helen, Wesley, and Shannon offer five new starting points without deciding what the finished characters must look like or who they must become.

Leaves, flowers, twigs, and other suitable natural materials can be inserted, turned, removed, and replaced in different openings. A single figure can become taller, shorter, quieter, livelier, or something entirely unexpected, depending on what children find and how they choose to use it.

Together, the five new forms open another range of appearances, personalities, and stories. LOCOMO® Friends can be enjoyed as a complete set on its own or combined with Family to expand the cast, relationships, and possibilities for play.

Learning Through Observation and Hands-On Play

As children play, they consider which materials are the right size for an opening, which ones stay in place, and which ones create the effect they have in mind.

When something does not work as expected, they can change the angle, try another opening, choose a different piece, or head outside to look again. Inserting, turning, removing, and adjusting materials of different shapes also gives children opportunities to coordinate their hands and eyes and practice controlled finger movements.

When children look, compare, choose, and adjust what they have found, they see the results of their decisions directly. This hands-on process reflects TaksaToys’ approach to play-based learning. Understanding grows through what children see, touch, and try for themselves rather than from ready-made explanations alone.

When several characters are brought together, their different appearances and personalities may lead naturally to names, roles, relationships, and shared stories.

From Play to Display

Completed LOCOMO® Friends characters can be arranged together on a shelf or table as a small decorative composition.

Like arranging flowers or natural materials in a vase, children can consider height, shape, color, and proportion across several characters. The arrangement can remain for a while, then be refreshed whenever something new is found.

What begins as play can quietly become part of the home while remaining open to change.
